Finding the One.

Ah– the overwhelming feeling when someone answers YES to a once in a lifetime question. Often, the big moment can come out of nowhere, taking the heart by surprise.

I’m referring to the one, the only question– are you saying yes to the dress? Once upon a casual day in Charleston, South Carolina, I was walking down King Street with a focused expression heading towards my work. Gold glimmered from a display window. I stopped on the brick sidewalk to see the most stunning wedding dress I had ever seen in my life. It was perfect. It was the one.

Was it wrong that I wasn’t engaged yet?

This minor detail prevented me from going into the shop to try it on and inquire after its price tag. My boyfriend and I had not come close to talking about marriage. I didn’t even know if he wanted to get married. Ever!
